Labelwell™ Caption Reader (Mac): the Lightroom Classic plug-in and the standalone app

Labelwell reads the writing on album labels, photo backs and print borders into each photo's caption: in
Lightroom Classic, or with the standalone app, which does not require Lightroom Classic.

TO INSTALL

  1. Quit Lightroom Classic.
  2. Double-click "Install Labelwell". macOS asks once whether to open an app downloaded from the Internet:
     click Open.
  3. Choose what to install: both, only the plug-in, or only the app. One license covers both. A message says
     when it is done.
  4. The app: open Applications > ThePictureOrg > Labelwell. It opens in your web browser.
The plug-in: start Lightroom Classic. On album pages, run Squarewell first. Then select photos and choose
     Library > Plug-in Extras > Read captions...

The plug-in goes into Lightroom's own plug-in folder for your user:
     ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/Modules/PictureOrgCaptionReader.lrplugin
To update later, open the installer from the new download the same way; it replaces the old version.
  The app goes into /Applications/ThePictureOrg/Labelwell.app.
To remove them, open "Uninstall Labelwell".
If anything goes wrong, the installer keeps a log for support:
     ~/Library/Logs/PictureOrg/Labelwell-install.log

On a Mac with an Intel processor, the installer also offers a one-time setup that downloads the libraries
(it needs Python 3 from python.org and an internet connection).

INSTALLING THE PLUG-IN BY HAND INSTEAD

Right-click "Install Labelwell" > Show Package Contents > Contents > Resources, and copy
PictureOrgCaptionReader.lrplugin somewhere permanent (for example Documents/Lightroom Plug-ins). Then in
Lightroom Classic choose File > Plug-in Manager > Add and pick it.

The full User Guide is inside the plug-in (right-click PictureOrgCaptionReader.lrplugin > Show Package
Contents > docs > Labelwell-User-Guide.html).
